Dear Maury, Ilene, City Bakery Friends and Fleurs Bella,

The most beautiful bouquet ever came into the apartment yesterday and my brain didn’t put it all together until after its deliverer had left.  Slowly, too late to invite her in, I realized that the present was from you, The City Bakery, and had arrived with its floral designer whom I had met in 2004 when we had Allan Morris’ memorial dinner (greenery with fresh almond branched.)  She would have understood that never before in this space could there have been any bouquet to perfectly reflect and concentrate and surpass – in a friendly way!! -  the spirit of the place where it would sit.

When I put it on a table every piece of furniture and painting and pillow was shouting out its approval at being in the presence of those colors, aromas, varieties.  When I woke up this morning I rushed in to look at them from every angle and discovered surprise roses tucked in under the magnolia leaves.  It is a truly amazing present, including the huge congregation of gingerbread men, a combined “treat” that fills me with happy, delighted appreciation.

Thank you so much for designing/building/making that incredible arrangement.  It couldn’t have been more beautiful and perfect.  The corsages and boutonnières were amazing too.  You really helped make the day perfect.
