About fleursBELLA
fleursBELLA creates enchanted worlds. Its doors open into a haven of nature and beauty, guarded by serene moss sculptures and foraged treasures, revealing the most stunning of seasonal blooms brought back from the market. Our designers strive for uniqueness, and seamlessly integrate flowers, fruit, seeds and greenery to respond to each client’s requests. Whether we are building a small bouquet, or are beautifying a large event, great attention is given to translating the vision into a new floral expression. This challenge continues to inspire us, and pushes us even further to work with each flower’s innate beauty, highlighting and juxtaposing their textures and colors.
fleursBELLA would not exist without its most creative team, consisting of talented artists in their own right; sculptors, painters, photographers and designers. This synthesis of creative energy breathes fresh ideas into our work and inspires us each and every day.
Meet Bella
Founder and creative director
Bella Meyer was born in Paris and grew up immersed in art and painting. After having attained a Ph.D. in Medieval Art History in Paris, she moved to New York where she focused on puppetry as well as creating theater costumes, props and masks. Over the years Bella incorporated flowers into her work, and in 2005 the studio was born. Flowers have always been close to Bella’s heart. Their unique ability to inspire people to smile, or to bring a moment’s peace, is important to her. Bella approaches floral design like a painter might and continues to be guided by her strong memories of watching her grandfather Marc Chagall’s constant need to understand colors and matter.
Meet Leanna
Floral Designer
Leanna Kearney, originally from the northwestern hills of Connecticut, has a background in landscape design. When she joined fleursBELLA in 2010, she introduced a distinct design approach to the studio. While pruning or planting trees and flowers may involve similar materials, the two are vastly different. She enjoys cooking, painting and drawing, along with photography and creative writing. Kearney was lovingly mentored and trained by Bella herself, along with numerous talented freelance floral designers who nurtured and inspired her. Their generous knowledge and experience shaped Kearney’s character in floral design. She is the eyes behind our social media accounts, supported by the fleursBELLA team. You may see her browsing the flower market with her dog, Tilda SweetFoot, by her side, or perched on the studio’s rafters, capturing inspiration. She enjoys learning the ever changing craft of working with flowers, be it cut, or from their very roots.
Meet melissa
Project Manager & Floral designer
Melissa Wu initially joined FleursBELLA in 2022 with a bit of an undefined role, but over the years, she has proven herself to be not only a talented designer but also an incredibly valuable member of the studio’s inner circle.
Her innovative approach extends beyond florals, encompassing Acrobatic gymnastics as well. As an Acro teacher for over eight years, she combines elements of both gymnastics and dance, emphasizing teamwork, strength, flexibility, and artistry. This certainly translates into the way Melissa designs flowers. Melissa’s energy and enthusiasm are infectious; she serves as the studio’s cheerleader, coordinator of events, and manager of the smallest details that ensure the smooth running of the studio as a safe and creative space.
With the same passion she instills in her Acro students, Melissa elevates her own floral designs to new heights. Her creations are bold, sculptural, and meticulously crafted to tell the client’s unique story. Melissa’s talent, enthusiasm, and contagious creativity make her an invaluable asset to our team. We are honored to have her as our studio event and project manager.
“If we can dream it we can do it.”
Meet dan
Production Manager
Daniel Persaud joined fleursBELLA in 2017. Initially, he was hired as the studio’s handyman, but he has since grown to become the studio’s fearless Production Manager. With patience, agility and a keen eye for balance, Dan is the man who guides the designers through the structural engineering of large-scale productions. He has also showcased his own creativity in design, sculpting wire figures, faces, and providing insightful suggestions to support the designers in their work. From heavy lifting and maneuvering to keeping the studio organized, Dan is a master of dad jokes and smooth dance moves. He’s the guy you want by your side for long shifts, rallying you to keep going. Funny story: when he first joined the studio, he was afraid of ladders. But now, he climbs to the very top with ease. Dan-o is truly the Man-o.
